2024 Hike & Learn Schedule:
First Friday of the Month
May 3rd @ 1:00 PM Walker Point Access - Grayson Lake Wildlife Management Area
- Trail is located on the left on Rt 7 after you pass 986 heading towards Sandy Hook.
- Hike Focus: Birding and Tree ID
- Special Guests: Billy Thomas and Laurie Thomas, UK Extension Foresters; Nathan Hall, Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife
- Out and back on the trail is approximately 1.5 miles.
- Difficulty: Easy
Next (bonus) hike: May 17th at Carter Caves State Resort Park
- Bring a sack lunch.
- Meet at the Welcome Center at 10:15 AM. We will hike the Horn Hollow Trail (1.5 miles) and then eat lunch and hike the Natural Bridge Trail (0.5 mile). In the afternoon, we will be touring X Cave {WALKING DISTANCE & DIFFICULTY: About 1/4 mile with 75 stair steps, some stooping, narrow passage DURATION: About 45 minutes TEMPERATURE: 40-65 degrees}.
- Our friends from PENCo Hikers will be joining us!
Next month: June 7th at Eagle Lake MSU Campus
- The trail head is located at 100 Evans Branch Rd, Morehead, KY 40351.
- Parking may be available on the hill near the trail or in the Rec Center Parking Lot.
