FCS Extension programs aim to improve the quality of individual and family life through education, research, and outreach.

What is Family & Consumer Sciences (FCS)?

FCS stands for Family and Consumer Sciences Extension. FCS programming focus on building assets of individuals and families to address problems faced across the lifespan. Family and Consumer Sciences Extension emphasizes well-being with a focus on human development, parenting, resource management, nutrition, health and leadership development.

At the community level, FCS Extension prepares individuals for community and economic development and activity. Professionals in Family and Consumer Sciences Extension provide the tools to help individuals and families to develop resources for strengthening families and building community for an ever changing society.

Homemaker News

  • We have several that have signed up to represent Carter County Homemakers that have signed up to represent Carter County Homemakers at the State KEHA meeting May 7-9 in Bowling Green. If you are interested in going, please contact our office to let us know ASAP. 
  • Homemaker Council will meet on May 1st at 10:00 a.m. in the Education Building.
  • Registration information for the annual meeting can be found under the Events section.  We are using Eventbrite to make online payment possible. If you have any questions or prefer not to use it, please call 474-6686.
  • Club assignments for the annual meeting will be the same as last year unless you let Whitney know otherwise
  • Be working on your cultural arts! Categories are in your booklet
  • Officer Credentials, club of the year, scholarship, and any other annual meeting paperwork is due May 1st
  • Be thinking about silent auction items for the annual meeting
  • Each club needs to send $10 for centerpieces for the annual meeting
  • Quilts for Veterans meet in the Education building every Monday from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. to sew
  • Sit and Sew occurs on the first and third Fridays of each month from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
